Bengaluru, Sept. 12, 2025 — The Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST) commemorated the 123rd death anniversary of their foundress, Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima, on September 12 with an event at Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru. The programme featured prayerful reflections, scriptural readings, meditations, musical tributes, and student performances, all celebrating her enduring legacy and renewing her vision of a “Civilisation of Love”.
The day opened in a spirit of reverence as faculty, students and members of the CSST religious community participated in scriptural readings and guided meditations. The Christian Students’ Association performed an instrumental piece, and the assembly offered a floral tribute, setting a contemplative tone for the day’s proceedings.
Guest speaker Sr. Teresita CSST delivered the principal address, reminding the audience that Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima regarded education as the formation of the whole person — “not merely about knowledge, but about forming hearts rooted in compassion, service and love.” Sr. Teresita urged students and staff to translate that vision into concrete acts of service and community engagement.
Student creativity formed a key part of the programme. A solo performance and a skit dramatising the foundress’s mission brought her life and values to the fore. Organisers also screened a moving visual tribute to her. The college also staged competitions in collage making, singing and creative writing to encourage imaginative engagement with the foundress’s ideals; winners received prizes during a formal distribution ceremony.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks. The event was not just a commemoration of the past but a renewal of Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima’s timeless call to build a “Civilisation of Love”. It reminded every Carmelite that her dream lives on whenever education is pursued with faith, service, and compassion at its heart.
