CJP Withdraws 36-Day Delhi Protest After Centre Accepts Key Demands

Delhi, July 25, 2026: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has withdrawn its 36-day protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar after talks with the Centre and the acceptance of its key demands.

CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das said the organisation was ending its agitation “in good faith” and asked protesters to leave the protest sites peacefully. He said the agreed terms were expected to be implemented within the timelines settled during discussions with the government.

Among the measures announced was the government’s decision to take steps towards withdrawing FIRs filed against peaceful protesters. Union minister J.P. Nadda also said financial compensation would be provided, within applicable rules, to the families of victims who died by suicide in connection with the NEET controversy.

The development came after Dharmendra Pradhan’s exit as education minister. Pradhan stepped down, taking moral responsibility for the controversy surrounding the NEET paper leak.

CJP protest began on June 20

The CJP began its protest at Jantar Mantar on June 20. The resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan was among the demands raised by the party, alongside its concerns over alleged irregularities in examinations.

The protest gained further attention on June 28 when Sonam Wangchuk joined the agitation and began an indefinite hunger strike.

After the government agreed to its demands following discussions, the CJP announced that it would end the agitation.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the government had accepted all the party’s demands following the 36-day protest and appealed to those participating in the agitation to withdraw peacefully.
