Mysuru, February 16, 2026: A new children’s publication aimed at presenting Gospel teachings in an engaging visual format was unveiled on February 15 at Holy Cross Church, Balawadi in Mysuru.
Titled Lenten Gospel Comics, the book is authored by Fr. Richard Menezes, Director of the Dhyanasadhana Spirituality Centre. The publication was formally released by Fr. John Sequeira, Parish Priest of the host church, during a prayerful gathering attended by parishioners and well-wishers.
In his address, Fr. Sequeira commended the initiative, emphasising the importance of presenting Gospel values to children in accessible and appealing ways. He noted that nurturing faith at an early age plays a vital role in building a spiritually grounded community.
Designed especially for young readers, the book presents Gospel themes through illustrated narratives that explore values such as prayer, sacrifice, love, forgiveness and compassion. The publication seeks to guide children through the spiritual journey of Lent in a manner that is both creative and relatable.
The book is published by Dhyanavana Publications, the publishing arm of the Carmelites.
Speaking to Catholic Connect, Fr. Menezes said the project was inspired by the need to foster a love for reading and faith formation among children in a digital era. He expressed hope that the combination of visual storytelling and Gospel messages would help young readers develop a deeper relationship with Christ.
The release concluded with prayer and reflection, highlighting ongoing efforts within the Church to nurture faith among children through innovative educational initiatives.
