Goa, Sancoale, August 6, 2025: On a historic and joyful day in Sancoale, the evening of August 5, 2025, witnessed the celebration of a symbolic “letter of bondage” from St. Joseph Vaz during a Eucharistic celebration at 4pm, followed by the official release of a new Konkani book titled Jinnentle Ulhas .
The book, a collection of reflective articles by Rev. Sr. Molly Fernandes SFN, was officially unveiled by Rev. Fr. Kenneth Teles, Parish Priest of Sancoale and Episcopal Vicar of South Goa. Present for the occasion were Frs. Peter and Christopher, Mr. Celso Fernandes, Mr. Vincy Quadros, Srs. Mariquinha and Libia, along with an august gathering of well-wishers and community members.
Introducing this, Sr. Molly’s second book, Rev. Fr. Peter Britto highlighted her multifaceted contributions. “We all know Sr. Molly,” he said, emphasising that “despite her religious work, she also contributes a lot to the literary field”. He praised her skills as a writer and journalist in both English and Konkani, and acknowledged her current role as the Directress of the Holy Family Communication Centre in Sancoale.
Sr. Molly, celebrated for her contributions in both religious and literary spheres, shared that the book was the fruit of prayer. When asked about her inspiration, she gave all praise to God for His goodness, for the zeal and strength to serve in His vineyard as a nun for thirty-five years, and especially for the gift of communicating through writing to connect with people across the world.
When asked about the release of her book, she responded with deep gratitude to all who contributed to its publication. She thanked Fr. Kenneth Teles for agreeing to release the book; Fr. Ave Maria Afonso for writing the foreword; Mr. Celso Fernandes, President of the Dalgado Konknni Akademi, for writing the author’s introduction; Mr. Edvin Fernandes for encouraging her to prepare the book; Sr. Berna Rodrigues and her counsellors for giving permission to publish it; Mr. Michael D’Souza of the Vision Konkani Pustok Anudan Foundation for financial support; Mr. Andrew D’Souza, the printer; and Ms. Socorinha Noronha of Mylah Prokaxon for their roles in publishing the book.
As the evening progressed, the gathering grew, with friends and family members arriving. Their continued presence reflected the deep admiration and affection they hold for Sr. Molly. The event was not only a celebration of her literary milestone but also a heartfelt tribute to her life of service, dedication, and the powerful impact of her words.
