Bhopal, August 23, 2025 — The Archdiocese of Bhopal joined the universal Church in observing a Day of Prayer and Fasting for Global Peace on Friday, August 22, responding to Pope Leo’s call for the faithful worldwide to unite in prayer and fasting. The Pope urged believers to seek what he described as a “disarmed and disarming peace” in regions affected by war and violence.
Archbishop Durairaj SVD encouraged the faithful of Bhopal to participate wholeheartedly in this spiritual initiative. Following the monthly recollection, he led a solemn Holy Mass at the Pastoral Centre, Bhopal, along with priests of the Archdiocese, seeking God’s blessings for global peace.
In his homily, Archbishop Durairaj said, “This day reminds us to embrace peace rooted in love, dialogue, and mutual respect.” He called on the faithful to observe fasting and prayer sincerely, asking God to end conflicts and establish lasting peace across the world.
The observance highlighted the Archdiocese’s commitment to fostering a culture of peace and solidarity. Through prayer, fasting, and reflection, the faithful focused on the spiritual call to support peace and justice in a world affected by conflict.
