Baroda Diocese Holds Requiem Mass in Memory of Late Pope Francis

Vadodara, Gujarat, May 2, 2025: A solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Rosary Cathedral in the Diocese of Baroda, on April 26, to pray for the soul of the late Pope Francis. The Mass, led by Bishop Sebastian Mascarenhas, the Bishop of Baroda, drew numerous faithful, including clergy, religious, and laity from across the diocese.

Several priests concelebrated the Mass alongside Bishop Mascarenhas. The liturgy was further enriched by the participation of a youth choir composed of young, budding musicians, who performed soulful hymns that added depth to the celebration.

In his homily, Bishop Mascarenhas reflected on the life and legacy of Pope Francis, highlighting his simplicity, humility, and deep concern for the poor. He also reflected on the late pontiff's unwavering commitment to social justice and his embodiment of servant leadership in the Church.

The Requiem Mass served not only as a prayerful farewell but also as a celebration of Pope Francis’s enduring spiritual legacy in the universal Church.
