Archdiocese of Bhopal Celebrates Sunday of the Word of God with Devotion

Bhopal, January 29, 2025 – The Archdiocese of Bhopal celebrated the 6th Sunday of the Word of God with great enthusiasm and devotion across various parishes, encouraging the faithful to deepen their engagement with the Scriptures.

Many churches invited parishioners to bring their Bibles to Mass as a symbol of their commitment to God's Word. At St. Joseph the Worker’s Church, Fr. Ishwardas Minj, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese, highlighted the transformative power of Scripture. "The Word of God is a source of comfort, hope, and strength. It challenges us to live lives of love, compassion, and justice. It inspires us to be agents of change in our communities and the world," he said during the Eucharistic celebration.

In a special message for the occasion, Archbishop Sebastin Durairaj SVD urged the faithful to make Scripture a guiding force in their daily lives. "In the hustle and bustle of our daily routines, it is easy to forget the power and guidance that the Word of God offers. This Sunday, let us take time to open our Bibles and immerse ourselves in its wisdom. Let us listen to the stories of our ancestors, the prophets, and the apostles. Let us hear the voice of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior," he said.

Meanwhile, at Holy Family Parish, Fr. Alfred D’Souza emphasized the importance of daily engagement with the Bible. "Let us commit to making the Word of God a central part of our lives. Let us read it, study it, and meditate on it daily. Let us share its message with others so that they too may experience the transformative power of God's Word," he encouraged.

The celebrations across the Archdiocese reflected a deep reverence for Scripture and a commitment to living out its teachings. Adding a patriotic touch, special prayers were offered for the nation on Republic Day, underscoring the connection between faith and civic responsibility.
