Srikakulam, Hyderabad, August 30, 2025: A one-day workshop on Transformative Education took place on 30 August 2025 at Mariagiri Shrine, Srikakulam, under the leadership of Rayarala Vijaya Kumar, PIME, Bishop of Srikakulam and Chairman of the Youth Commission. Nearly 200 educators from schools across the diocese participated in the event.
The inauguration was held in a solemn and meaningful manner. In his address, Bishop Rayarala Vijaya Kumar stressed the value of education as a transformative force in both society and the Church. He underlined the role of teachers in shaping young minds with knowledge as well as values.
Several priests and religious leaders attended the workshop, including Fr. Duci Devaraj, Vicar General, Fr. Thumma Dominic GDM, Fr. Allam Vijaya Reddy, Director of the Pastoral Centre, Fr. Xavier Rex SJ, Fr. Medi Sleevaraj SDB, Regional Youth Director, and Sr. Joseph Mary JMJ.
Fr. Thumma Dominic GDM coordinated the event, ensuring its smooth execution, while Fr. Allam Vijaya Reddy extended full support and provided accommodation for the participants.
The workshop featured enriching sessions delivered by expert speakers.
Fr. Xavier Rex SJ presented on “Education from Head to Heart”, introducing three levels of learning:
Sr. Joseph Mary JMJ spoke on Value Education, emphasising safeguarding rules and regulations within the educational system. She highlighted the need to create a safe and value-centred environment for students.
The sessions left participants motivated and inspired to integrate transformative methods into their teaching practices. The collaboration between clergy, religious, and laity marked the workshop as a significant step in empowering teachers to nurture not only the intellect but also the heart and spirit of young learners.
