Workshop on Basic ecclesial communities held for Telugu priests in Nagpur

Nagpur, October 29, 2025 — A three-day workshop on Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs) for priests of the Telugu Region concluded successfully at the Pallottine Animation Centre (PAC), Nagpur, on 29th October 2025. The event, held from 27th to 29th October, was organised under the guidance of Fr. George Jacob SAC, Executive Secretary of the CCBI Commission for BECs.

The sessions were animated by Mr. Emmanuel Johnson, a National Service Team (NST) member from Delhi, who guided participants through an engaging and reflective series of discussions. Around 30 priests from the dioceses of Nalgonda, Srikakulam, Guntur, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Warangal took part in the workshop.

The workshop proved highly interactive, with participants expressing strong commitment to fostering BEC communities within their respective dioceses. Their planning exercises reflected deep enthusiasm and a shared vision to build authentic Christian communities rooted in participation, faith, and service.

Centred on the theme “BEC: The New Way of Being Church,” the sessions explored vital aspects of community life, including the four marks of BECs, spirituality, gospel sharing, leadership, and ministries. Participants also engaged in discussions on Synodality and the CCBI Pastoral Plan, reflecting on their pastoral responsibilities in light of the Church’s evolving mission.

Each day began and ended with spiritual moments, including the Holy Eucharist, prayer, and Bible enthronement, which deepened the participants’ collective reflection and faith experience. Group discussions and spiritual conversations further encouraged collaboration and the sharing of pastoral insights.

The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment from the priests to strengthen BECs as vibrant, participatory, and faith-filled communities in the Telugu Region.
