Vishwa Hindu Parishad to Launch Nation-wide Anti-Conversion Initiative

May 30, 2026: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) National Joint General Secretary Surendra Kumar Jain announced that the organisation would soon launch a nation-wide anti-conversion initiative. He said VHP representatives would meet Chief Ministers across the country with a proposed “Model Anti-Conversion Law” intended to prevent religious conversions through coercion or fraudulent means.

Addressing media persons on May 14, Dr. Jain also warned the Telangana government against the alleged misuse of the proposed Hate Speech Bill, claiming that it could be used to target Hindu voices. He stated that the VHP would initiate a State-wide agitation if the legislation was implemented in an unfair manner.

“The VHP will continue its struggle from the streets to the courts to safeguard the cultural and religious rights of Hindu society,” he asserted while expressing serious concerns regarding cow slaughter, temple administration and the protection of Sanatana Dharma.

He claimed that the implementation of the 1977 Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act in Telangana had been ineffective and alleged that no convictions had been secured under the law during the last five decades. He announced that the VHP would establish a legal cell to suggest amendments to the State government for stricter implementation of the legislation.

The VHP leader also criticised what he described as “anti-Hindu rhetoric” by certain political leaders, referring to recent remarks made by Minister Konda Surekha, and stated that the Hindu community would not tolerate insults directed at Sanatana traditions.

Dr. Jain called for temples to be freed from government control and administered by Hindu society. He said that temple revenues should be used solely for Hindu religious and cultural activities. “We believe in the socialisation, not governmentisation of temples,” he remarked.

Akarapu Keshavaraju, B. Narasimha Murthy, Dr. Ravinuthala Shashidhar, T. Yadagiri Rao, G. Ramesh, Chintala Venkanna and M. Subash Chander were among those present on the occasion.
