KOHIMA, Nagaland, May 5, 2025: Approximately 250 Catholic youths from across Nagaland gathered at the Mary Help of Christians Cathedral in Kohima on May 4 to venerate the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Northeast Regional Youth Convention (RYC) Cross. The event was organised by members of the Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement, with support from the Northeast Regional Youth Office.
The ceremony began with a welcome address and a reflection on the spiritual significance of the RYC Cross delivered by Rev. Fr. Kokto Kurian, Director of NCYM. A solemn procession followed, during which the RYC Cross was reverently carried from the cathedral’s main gate to its entrance. The cross was then officially handed over by the ICYM Northeast team to representatives of NCYM.
Inside the cathedral, members of Jesus Youth, Kohima, led a Holy Adoration session that helped the faithful prepare their hearts for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Rev. Fr. John Barman MSFS, Regional Youth Director, presided over the Eucharistic celebration, which was animated by members from the Cathedral Catholic Youth Movement (CCYM), Kohima.
Key figures from the Northeast Regional Youth Office, including Sr. Wansuk Lyngdoh MSMHC (Regional Youth Lady Animator), Jaunt Bora (Regional Treasurer), and Jurika Teronpi (MIJARC Coordinator), attended the event. From the host diocese, Mr. Immanuel (Regional Youth Joint Secretary), Miss Mhabeni (REXCO), and Sr. Mariam Khiyang Chothe (Diocesan Youth Lady Animator) played active roles in organising the day’s proceedings.
Members of the Northeast Regional Youth Office expressed deep gratitude to the Diocese of Kohima for their warm hospitality and wholehearted participation in this milestone event on the road to the upcoming ICYM Regional Youth Convention 2025 in Kohima.
