New Delhi, 11 April 2025 — Reports from the United Christian Forum (UCF) Helpline (1-800-208-4545) show that violence against Christians in India continues at an alarming rate, with over two incidents reported each day in the first quarter of 2025. Christians reported 55 incidents in January, 65 in February, and 76 in March — bringing the total to 196 in just three months.
The Violence Monitor Report 2025 highlights a consistent increase in such incidents over the years. Christians reported 598 cases in 2022, 733 in 2023, and 834 in 2024 — the highest annual figure so far.
In 2025, Uttar Pradesh recorded 42 incidents, Chhattisgarh 34, and Karnataka 17 — making them the top three states for reported violence. The report categorises the violence into physical assaults, damage to property, threats and harassment, and restrictions on religious gatherings.
The report also identifies specific victim groups, including women, Dalits, and tribal communities.
UCF compiles these figures from calls received on its helpline, which allows individuals to report incidents related to religious identity. The organisation has tracked such cases since 2014.
No official response from government authorities has been issued at the time of publication.
