Hassan, August 28, 2026: St Joseph’s College, Hassan, in collaboration with the Magic Bus India Foundation, organised a two-day free placement job drive on August 24 and 25, attracting hundreds of job seekers from across Karnataka.
The initiative opened with a day-long pre-placement workshop on August 24, which was attended by 120 candidates. The following day, 381 candidates appeared for interviews conducted by representatives of 32 companies.
Around 40 human resources professionals from Hassan, Mysuru, Dharwad and Bengaluru participated in the recruitment drive. More than 600 candidates had registered online, with participants travelling from Tumakuru, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Sakleshpur, Arsikere, Hassan and neighbouring areas.
The placement drive was open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from all academic streams, including engineering.
Nearly 45 per cent of the candidates who participated in the interviews were selected, with several already beginning to receive offer letters. Among the recruiters was a recently graduated BCom student of St Joseph’s College, who returned to the campus as a human resources officer representing Muthoot Finance.
Fr Olvin Veigas SJ, Campus Animator and organiser of the initiative, said the programme reflected the college’s commitment to youth empowerment and its efforts to prepare students to become job-ready and industry-ready.
Fr Leo Pereira SJ, Head of St Joseph’s Institutions in Hassan, congratulated the faculty and staff for organising the large-scale employment initiative.
The college has also filled all 330 seats in its BBA, BCom and BCA programmes for the second consecutive year. The successful placement drive further strengthened the institution’s contribution to education, employment and youth empowerment in the region.
