St. Joseph's Cathedral, Hyderabad, to Celebrate 200 Years of Catholic Presence in the Region

Hyderabad, March 14, 2025 – The Archdiocese of Hyderabad will be commemorating the 200th anniversary of St. Joseph’s Cathedral with a Solemn Pontifical High Mass on March 18, at 5:00 PM at the cathedral in Gunfoundry, Hyderabad. The Mass will be presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Poola Anthony, Archbishop of Hyderabad, and will be concelebrated by several bishops from across the region. The event, which is part of the archdiocese's Jubilee Year celebrations, marks two centuries since the arrival of Catholic missionaries in the region. The celebration aims to pay tribute to the missionaries, bishops, priests, religious, and lay faithful whose efforts have shaped the growth of the Catholic Church in Hyderabad.

The event, which coincides with the eve of the Solemnity of St. Joseph, also underscores the Cathedral’s role as the seat of the Bishop and a spiritual beacon for the faithful. The Archdiocese invites all the faithful from the region to join in this momentous occasion, celebrating the legacy and enduring presence of St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Hyderabad.
