Vatican City , 7 November, 2025: Pope Leo XIV greeted participants in the General Chapters of the Religious of Jesus and Mary and the Missionary Sisters of Saint Charles Borromeo (Scalabrinians), urging them to live their meetings as moments of renewal grounded in prayer, silence, listening, and an encounter with the Risen Lord.
Reflecting on the chapters’ themes — “Jesus himself drew near” and “Wherever you go, I will go” — he said they express both God’s initiative and the human response, and recalled that the founders faced great trials sustained by their meeting with the Risen Jesus. “The secret of such fidelity,” he affirmed, “is found in their encounter with the Risen Jesus.”
He encouraged the delegates to let Jesus “walk alongside” them, re-read their history “in the light of Easter,” and to “give plenty of space to prayer and silence,” noting that listening to the Lord teaches true listening to one another.

Quoting recent popes, he invited the sisters to seek “the face of God” in those in need and to venture onto new paths if asked by the Lord, recognising in each person “a promise, a hope, an epiphany of the divine presence.”
