Vatican City, January 24, 2025: In his message for the 59th World Day of Social Communications, Pope Francis has called on journalists and communicators to be "communicators of hope" in a world dominated by disinformation and polarization.
The Pope emphasized the importance of communication that promotes hope, empathy, and understanding, rather than fear, hatred, and division. He encouraged journalists to focus on the positive aspects of human experience and to tell stories that inspire hope and promote the common good.
Pope Francis also warned against the dangers of aggressive communication, which can lead to the dehumanization of others and the erosion of social bonds. Instead, he advocated for a communication that is gentle, respectful, and inclusive.
The Pope's message comes at a time when the world is facing numerous challenges, including conflict, poverty, and social inequality. He emphasized the need for a communication that promotes unity, solidarity, and the pursuit of the common good.
The 59th World Day of Social Communications will be celebrated on May 24, 2025. The theme of this year's celebration is "Speak with gentleness, the hope that is in your hearts."
