VATICAN CITY, February 27, 2025: Pope Francis, 87, slept well overnight and spent the first half of the day resting, a statement released by the Holy See Press Office on Thursday morning said. The statement follows an update issued on Wednesday evening, which stated that the Pope, who has been battling lung inflammation and mild kidney insufficiency, showed signs of improvement over the past 24 hours. The statement confirmed that the mild kidney insufficiency observed in the Holy Father earlier had subsided. It added that a chest CT scan conducted on Tuesday indicated normal progression of the lung inflammation, while blood tests conducted on Wednesday reaffirmed the Pope’s improving health. Despite these positive updates, Vatican officials described his prognosis as “guarded,” highlighting the importance of continued vigilance.
Pope Francis’ hospitalisation has sparked concern among Catholics and world leaders, with many sending prayers and well wishes for his recovery. While Vatican authorities have not specified a discharge date, they remain hopeful about his steady recuperation. Medical staff continue to monitor the Pope closely to prevent any potential complications.
