Pope Francis Extends Prayers and Blessings to President Trump as He Takes Office

Vatican City, January 21, 2025: Pope Francis extended a heartfelt message to U.S. President Donald J. Trump on the occasion of his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States on January 20th, offering prayers, divine blessings, and encouragement as he embarks on his new role. 

In his message, Pope Francis expressed his hope that God would grant President Trump wisdom, strength, and protection in carrying out the responsibilities of his high office. "On the occasion of your inauguration as the forty-seventh President of the United States of America, I offer cordial greetings and the assurance of my prayers that Almighty God will grant you wisdom, strength, and protection in the exercise of your high duties," the pontiff stated. 

Reflecting on the ideals that define the United States, Pope Francis highlighted the nation's historic commitment to being a land of opportunity and inclusion. He expressed his hope that President Trump's leadership would help the American people thrive while fostering a society grounded in justice and equality. "I hope that under your leadership the American people will prosper and always strive to build a more just society, where there is no room for hatred, discrimination, or exclusion," Pope Francis said. 

The Pope also addressed the broader challenges facing humanity, including the persistent threat of war. He prayed for divine guidance in President Trump's efforts to promote global peace and reconciliation. "As our human family faces numerous challenges, not to mention the scourge of war, I also ask God to guide your efforts in promoting peace and reconciliation among peoples," the Holy Father noted. 

Concluding his message, Pope Francis invoked divine blessings upon President Trump, his family, and the American people, offering prayers for their well-being and success. "With these sentiments, I invoke upon you, your family, and the beloved American people an abundance of divine blessings," he said.  

The message underscores the Pope's commitment to fostering dialogue, peace, and unity in an era marked by significant global challenges.
