New Delhi, March 28, 2025 — The Delhi Christian Pastors' Fellowship organised an Ecumenical Lenten Recollection at St. Thomas Believers Eastern Church in Hauz Khas, New Delhi, on March 26, 2025. The event brought together bishops, priests, and pastors from various Christian denominations across the Delhi-NCR region for deep spiritual reflection and to strengthen their skills in pastoral leadership.
The event commenced with a praise and worship session led by Fr. Norbert Herman, SVD, setting a reverent tone for the day. Fr. Gurmail Gill then welcomed the attendees, while H.G. John Mor Irenaeus Episcopal honoured each participant with a traditional shawl.
The keynote speaker for the recollection, H.G. Mar Demetrios, reflected on the biblical account of Peter’s denial of Jesus, drawing insights on faith, fear, and redemption. Peter’s denial, recounted in all four Gospels, emphasised the struggle between fear and faith in times of persecution. The incident served as a poignant reminder of human fallibility and the power of redemption through repentance.
Discussions during the event highlighted the crucial role of pastors in leading by example, ensuring their congregations embody the love of Christ. Participants were encouraged to embrace authenticity in their spiritual leadership, shed hypocrisy, and foster a community rooted in genuine charity and holiness.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Rev. S.K. Bagh, followed by Fr. Herman’s introduction of Masih Mahotsav, an upcoming Christian gathering. He also announced that Archbishop Kuriakose Baranikulankara would host the next meeting in December. The session ended with a benediction from the archbishop, followed by a fellowship meal.
This ecumenical Lenten recollection provided a valuable opportunity for introspection and renewal, equipping the pastors to lead their congregations with renewed faith and commitment during this sacred season.
