Palm Sunday Celebrated with Solemn Procession at St Rita’s Parish, Kunigal, Karnataka

Kunigal, Karnataka, 14 Apri, 2025– The faithful gathered in large numbers at St. Rita’s School ground on Sunday to mark the celebration of Palm Sunday, commemorating Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

The ceremony began with the blessing of palms by the parish priest, Fr. Michael Menezes, SMM. Palms were distributed to the assembled congregation, which included nuns, parishioners, and members of the wider community. The arrangements for the blessing were organised by the SMMI Sisters in collaboration with Mr. Manuel Picardo, the sacristan.

Following the blessing, a reverent procession made its way from the school ground to St. Rita’s Church. Leading the way were the faithful and nuns, followed by the clergy. The procession moved solemnly along the main road, symbolising the journey of Christ.

The liturgical celebration continued inside the church, where the remainder of the Palm Sunday service took place, led by Fr. Michael Menezes, SMM. The event marked the beginning of Holy Week and was observed with devotion and spiritual reflection by all in attendance.
