Orientation Programme Inspires Freshers at St. Xavier’s PU College, Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi, Karnataka, June 24, 2025: St. Xavier’s PU College, Kalaburagi, conducted an orientation programme on Monday, June 23, 2025, to welcome and guide newly admitted students for the academic year 2025–26. The full-day event aimed to help the students begin their academic journey with confidence and clarity. It was facilitated by five animators from the Karnataka Jesuit Educational Society (KJES) Youth Works.


The event commenced with a formal stage programme, gracefully hosted by Noble Raj, who warmly welcomed all the dignitaries and resource persons.


Rev. Fr. Maxim Misquith SJ, Superior of the college, delivered an inaugural address urging students to start the academic year with dedication and purpose. Rev. Fr. Robert Rodrigues SJ, Principal of the college, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the values of the institution and its expectations from its students. The stage was graced by other dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Anand Prabhu SJ, Fr. Roshan Pinto SJ, Fr. Joseph Jerald SJ, heads of various departments, and Mr. Shaik Salman.


Following the stage programme, an engaging session of ice-breaking activities was conducted to foster rapport among the students and create a lively, welcoming atmosphere. 


Mr. Mervin Mathias then led the first session on leadership, emphasising the importance of being a leader in today’s world. He connected this theme to the rich legacy of Jesuit education, highlighting how it fosters leadership rooted in values and service. 


Following this, Mr. Shaik Salman delivered an insightful session on the Jesuit mission and the extensive network of Jesuit educational institutions in Karnataka. His session helped the students to appreciate the distinguished legacy they are now a part of.


Mr. Amith Pereira led the next session through an interactive case study, which concluded with a powerful message on the importance of accountability and taking responsibility for one’s actions. 


Post-lunch, Ms. Albina Mary delivered a session on goal setting and preparing for competitive exams. She offered practical tips and inspired students to build a clear vision for their future. 


The final session of the day was delivered by Ms. Nelisha Lobo, who addressed the impact of media on youth. She emphasised how students' media habits influence their mental health, decision-making, and future outcomes.


The animators sustained student engagement throughout the day with interactive activities and action songs, ensuring a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere. 


The programme concluded with a formal closing ceremony. A faculty member delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the KJES team for their time, energy, and inspiring sessions.


The orientation programme served as a meaningful and energising start for the students, grounding them in the values and vision of St. Xavier’s PU College, Kalaburagi.
