Mysore Diocese celebrates Teachers' Jubilee

Martalli, Chamarajanagar District, Mysore, September 5, 2025 – With the blessings of His Grace Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Mysore, the Diocese hosted a special Teachers’ Jubilee Gathering at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Martalli. The celebration, held on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, formed part of the Jubilee 2025 initiatives and was led by Fr. M. Vincent, Parish Priest and Dean of Martalli Deanery.

Centred on the Jubilee 2025 theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, the event encouraged teachers to journey together in faith, service, and hope for the future. The day echoed the words of Scripture: “Those who instruct many in righteousness will shine like the stars forever” (Daniel 12:3).

The programme opened with a solemn Eucharistic celebration attended by nearly 150 teachers. The Mass was offered in thanksgiving for the gift of teachers and invoked God’s blessings upon their vocation of guiding and moulding the young. In his homily, Fr. Vincent described teaching as a sacred ministry, calling educators “moulders of future society and the Church.” Drawing on Jesus’ words, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14), he highlighted the vital role of teachers in nurturing both faith and society.

Following the Eucharist, the Jubilee Felicitation Ceremony honoured more than one hundred teachers for their selfless dedication to education and their contributions to the Church and society. Senior educators received special recognition for their years of noble service, standing as enduring witnesses of commitment and faith. Fr. Vincent urged teachers to continue their mission with zeal, assuring them of the prayers and support of the Church.

The gathering drew additional significance through the presence of Fr. Christopher, Principal of Mary’s College, the FMM Sisters, and other dignitaries, whose participation enriched the celebration.

The Teachers’ Jubilee Gathering at Martalli resonated with gratitude, encouragement, and renewal. It stood as a vivid expression of the Diocese of Mysore’s vision to live the Jubilee 2025 as a true Pilgrimage of Hope.
