Luce, the official mascot for the Catholic Church's 2025 Jubilee Year, is not alone during her journey as a pilgrim. She is accompanied by a diverse group of companions, each representing different aspects of the pilgrimage journey. Among them is her loyal dog, Santino. Inspired by San Rocco (St. Roch), the patron saint of pilgrims, Santino symbolizes guidance and steadfastness. Also accompanying Luce during her pilgrimage are Aura, a dove representing the Holy Spirit, and Iubi, her guardian angel who protects her during her journey.
Luce’s human companions, Fe, Xin, and Sky, bring additional vibrancy to her pilgrimage. Dressed in colorful raincoats—Fe in red, Xin in green, and Sky in blue—they symbolize unity and diversity, reflecting the global nature of young pilgrims journeying together in faith.
This ensemble of characters enriches Luce’s journey and invites a lot of engagement from young Catholics, guiding them through the spiritual journey of the Jubilee Year. Designed with a modern sensibility, these figures echo the Vatican’s effort to connect with contemporary pop culture, making the Jubilee themes of hope, faith, and renewal more appealing for youth worldwide. Together, they embody the spirit of pilgrimage and spiritual discovery, resonating with the inclusive and transformative mission of the Jubilee celebrations.
