Indore Diocese Hosts Patriotic Dance Competition ‘Rashtra Vandana 2025’

Indore, August 19, 2025 — Marking India’s 79th Independence Day, the youth of Holy Spirit Church, Palda, under the banner of ICYM, organised a vibrant patriotic dance competition, Rashtra Vandana 2025, at the Catholic Ashram, Palda. The event brought together 16 teams from Catholic schools, parishes, and colleges across the Diocese of Indore, showcasing India’s cultural diversity and freedom struggle through the medium of dance.

Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Sanjay Kujur, SVD, and Special Guest Mr. Nilesh Damor inaugurated the celebration, which transformed the venue with tricolour decorations, patriotic symbols, and a lively festive spirit. A distinguished jury comprising Mr. Sumit Nagda, Ms. Hina, and Ms. Tejasvi evaluated performances on choreography, creativity, expression, rhythm, and their reflection of patriotic themes.

Performances ranged from classical interpretations of the freedom struggle to contemporary portrayals of a ‘New India’. Many depicted the sacrifices of soldiers and the journey of the nation towards unity and progress. The spirited routines drew loud applause and standing ovations from parents, parishioners, and well-wishers present.

The competition unfolded in two categories. In the School Category, St. John’s School, Chapda, secured first place, followed by Holy Cross School, Khandwa Naka, and St. Joseph’s School, Bijalpur. In the Open Category, St. Paul’s College claimed the top prize, while St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral and St. Norbert Church, CAT, won second and third positions respectively.

The event owed its smooth execution to the dedicated involvement of ICYM members, who managed stage preparations, backstage coordination, and decorations. The parish priest, youth animators, and mentors provided essential guidance, while sponsors contributed crucial support, ensuring the competition’s success.

Rashtra Vandana 2025 left participants and spectators alike with renewed pride in their nation and a deeper appreciation of the values of unity and sacrifice. The initiative reinforced the role of Catholic youth in celebrating national identity through culture and creativity.
