ICYM National & Karnataka teams Meet to Discuss Plans for National Youth Convention 2025

Bangalore, May 24, 2025: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) National Team held its 10th virtual meeting with the Karnataka Region on May 23, 2025. The session, conducted online, brought together over 40 youth leaders and clergy to connect, reflect and collaborate on common goals, particularly focusing on the preparations for the forthcoming National Youth Convention – “Witness 2025” – which is scheduled to be held in Kerala from 1 to 5 October 2025.

The session witnessed the participation of key figures, including Rev. Fr. Chetan Machado, National Youth Director; Rev. Fr. Ashwin, newly appointed Regional Youth Director; Sr. Molly, Regional Youth Lady Animator; along with 14 diocesan youth presidents and secretaries. National and regional youth leaders also joined to deliberate on their roles and responsibilities in the convention’s success.

Discussions during the meeting focused on diocesan involvement, creative contributions and the collective responsibility of the Karnataka Region in making the national convention a grand success. Plans were also laid out for the national team’s visit to the Karnataka Region, aimed at pastoral engagement, leadership development, and increased youth participation at the grassroots level. The spirit of teamwork and faith was evident throughout the meeting.

The National Team expressed sincere gratitude to Rev. Fr. Lourd Raj, Rev. Fr. Ashwin, and Sr. Molly for their dedicated leadership and consistent support to the youth ministry. Their efforts were acknowledged as instrumental in motivating young people to live the mission of Christ through active service and faith-filled leadership.

Special appreciation was extended to all diocesan representatives and youth leaders for their active participation and enthusiastic collaboration. Their presence and contributions highlighted the zeal and unity within the Karnataka Region.

Concluding the meeting, Rev. Fr. Chetan Machado delivered an inspiring message, urging the youth to embrace their divine calling and become witnesses of Christ in today’s world.
