Mangalore, August 8, 2025: The ICYM Central Council organised "Lit and Link," a dynamic leadership orientation program, on July 20, at Olivet House, Jeppu. The event aimed to energise participants and emphasise the importance of leadership training.
Mr. Jaison Crasta, Past President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese and current Coordinator of the Youth Commission of Mangalore Diocese, conducted an insightful session on "Leadership and Skills." He highlighted the importance of utilising one's contacts, talents, and available resources for effective leadership. The Central Council felicitated Mr. Jaison Crasta for his valuable contributions to the ICYM Mangalore Diocese.
The training program featured a series of interactive activities to engage and energize participants. These included group formation exercises focused on collecting names and identifying individual skills related to volunteering, leadership, and business. Participants also took part in a fun and reflective Emoji Game, where they imagined an emoji representing their future, drew it, and acted it out. Additionally, the session highlighted a 10-year-old Instagram influencer, celebrated as the “Youngest Influencer,” inspiring youth creativity and digital engagement.
Leadership Training Highlights
The program emphasised key leadership takeaways, including:
- Beginning leadership with small steps.
- Emphasising communication and grooming.
- Keeping a record of programs through biodata and ensuring consistent follow-up.
- Staying creative and supportive of one another.
- Being hungry to learn – if you have the drive, you can achieve anything.
Sharing Session and Eucharistic Celebration
A sharing session by all council members encouraged collaboration and creativity. The program concluded with a Eucharistic Celebration led by Fr. JB Crasta, who emphasised the importance of controlling distractions to lead a purposeful life. The Central Council also felicitated Fr. JB Crasta, Director of St. Antony Ashram, Jeppu, for his dedicated service.
Also present at the program were Fr. Ashwin Cardoza, Director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Vijoy Ashwin Cardoza, Diocesan ICYM President, Maria D'Silva, General Secretary, and all Central Council members.
The training inspired young leaders to embrace their roles with confidence and creativity. It marked a significant step toward empowering the youth to lead with faith and purpose.
