Daltonganj Youth Convention Begins with 1,350 Participants and Spiritual Enthusiasm

Daltonganj, 26 May 2025: On 26 May 2025, the Daltonganj Diocesan Youth Convention 2025 was inaugurated with a Holy Mass at Sadhna Sadan, Chiaki, Daltonganj. Most Rev. Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, SFX, Bishop of Daltonganj Diocese, celebrated the Mass, emphasising the importance of young people opening their hearts and minds to God’s grace. Approximately 1,350 young people from 23 parishes were present for the inauguration.


Rev. Bishop Mascarenhas encouraged the youth to be receptive to God’s blessings and to share their experiences with others. He prayed for the Lord’s blessings upon the three-day convention.


After the Mass, the MLA of Manika Assembly, Shri Ram Chandra Singh ji, who was the Chief Guest, inaugurated the programme by releasing balloons along with Bishop Theodore and Fr. Marianus Kujur, SJ. Shri Ram Chandra ji emphasised the importance of remaining under God’s grace, stating that life without God is unimaginable.


Fr. Marianus Kujur, SJ, Director of Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi, was also present for the occasion. Rev. Sr. Margarita Dias, SCB, Associate Director of Communio, CCBI, kept the youth actively engaged with her animation programmes and action-packed songs. Fr. Sanjay Giddh, Vicar General and Youth Director of Daltonganj Diocese, also played a key role in organising the event.


Other clergy members present included Fr. Suman Niranjan Minj, Fr. Hemant Toppo, and Fr. Michael. Fifteen Religious Sisters from various congregations were also in attendance.


The successful inauguration of the Daltonganj Diocesan Youth Convention 2025 marked the beginning of a three-day event focused on faith, spirituality, and youth empowerment. The convention aims to inspire and guide the youth in their spiritual journeys, providing a platform for them to connect with God and with one another.
