New Delhi, January 29, 2025 – Dr. Sister Noel Rose, a member of the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel (CMC), made history by leading the 12-member National Service Scheme (NSS) contingent from Kerala at the Republic Day Parade in Delhi. This marks the first time in the event’s history that a nun has been given this honor, making it a remarkable achievement.
Dr. Sr. Noel, who also serves as the NSS Idukki District Coordinator and a professor at Newman College, shared her thoughts on this milestone with Catholic Connect, saying, “Leading the NSS contingent at the Republic Day Parade on Kartavyapath, Delhi, was a truly humbling and unforgettable experience. As a nun, representing not just my faith but also the spirit of service and unity that the NSS stands for, filled me with immense pride and gratitude.”
Reflecting on the experience, she added, “The rigorous training, the camaraderie with my fellow contingent members, and the honor of marching in front of the nation’s leaders and citizens were profoundly inspiring. It was not just a personal milestone but a testament to the fact that with dedication and faith, boundaries can be transcended.”
Sr. Noel also expressed deep gratitude to her religious community, school authorities, Provincial Superior, Councilors and her family members, who have always been a source of strength. This milestone highlights the dedication of the CMC community in education and social service, inspiring others to serve with humility and patriotism.
