Bangalore, Dec 18, 2025: CHRIST (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Australian Catholic University (ACU), inaugurated the Global STEM Education Centre on 12 December at its Bengaluru Central Campus, marking a significant step towards strengthening research-led and inclusive STEM education across the Indo-Pacific region.
Speaking at the inauguration, Vice-Chancellor of CHRIST University, Dr Fr. Jose C.C., said the Centre would equip educators and students with future-ready competencies while integrating ethical and global perspectives into STEM learning.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Julie Cogin, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of ACU, described the Centre as a strategic collaboration designed to promote interdisciplinary learning and socially responsive education.
The Centre will operate as a bilateral hub for teacher education, collaborative research, and curriculum development, with a focus on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital literacy. University officials said the initiative would also prioritise participation from girls and marginalised communities, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s emphasis on experiential and equitable learning.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior academic leaders from both institutions, along with faculty members, research scholars, and students. A delegation of eight students from ACU also participated in the programme.
As part of the launch, the universities unveiled the Centre’s logo and website and inaugurated an on-campus STEM laboratory. Student-led demonstrations in robotics, artificial intelligence, and sustainability were showcased, alongside workshops and discussions focused on inclusive STEM education.
University officials said the ACU–CHRIST Global STEM Education Centre is expected to function as a regional platform for academic exchange, policy engagement, and educational innovation, with plans for joint research projects, publications, and academic exchanges in the coming years.
