Goa, 9 May 2025 — President of CCBI, Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão, Auxiliary Bishop Simião Fernandes, and the faithful of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman have extended their heartfelt and prayerful wishes to Pope Leo XIV as he begins his ministry as the Shepherd of the Universal Catholic Church and Successor of the Apostle St Peter.
In a statement of profound devotion, the Archdiocese expressed its joy and spiritual solidarity with the newly elected Pope, assuring him of their prayers and unwavering support. The faithful join the Church worldwide in responding to the Holy Father’s first words, in which he called all people to peace, dialogue, and the fearless sharing of God’s love.
Pledging their faithful obedience to the Vicar of Christ, the Archdiocese offered the following prayer with the universal Church:
"May the Lord God, Shepherd and Ruler of all the faithful, look favourably on His servant Pope Leo XIV whom He has set at the head of His Church as Her shepherd and grant, that by word and example, he may be of service to those over whom he presides. Amen."
The Archdiocese of Goa and Daman remains united in faith and hope as the Church enters a new chapter under the guidance of Pope Leo XIV.
