A Dawn of Faith and Joy: Don Bosco School, Rajanagar, Celebrates Its Patron Saint

Rajanagar, East Arunachal Pradesh, January 31, 2025 – The Don Bosco School, Rajanagar, marked the feast of St. John Bosco, the patron saint of youth, with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervour on January 31. The Rising Sun of Arunachal Pradesh shone brightly on this auspicious occasion as the school community gathered to honour their patron saint.

The highlight of the feast was the Solemn Holy Mass, celebrated by Fr. Kindo Joseph SDB, the parish priest and in charge of Don Bosco School. More than 500 students, including many non-Catholics, participated reverently in the Eucharistic celebration, demonstrating their deep respect for Don Bosco’s teachings.

In his homily, Fr. Kindo Joseph reflected on the life and mission of St. John Bosco, who dedicated himself to the welfare of poor and abandoned youth. He encouraged students to embrace Don Bosco’s vision of forming “good Christians and honest citizens,” emphasising that “holiness consists in being happy.” The Preventive System of Education, a hallmark of Don Bosco’s philosophy based on reason, religion, and loving kindness, was highlighted as a guiding principle for the students.

Welcoming the attendees, Fr. Paul Panmei SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, extended prayers for the success of students in their upcoming examinations. Following the Mass, the celebration continued with a series of engaging activities, including games, dance performances, and action songs, orchestrated by the teachers and school staff. The event created an atmosphere of joy, culminating in the school community sharing a festive meal.

St. John Bosco, popularly known as Don Bosco, was born on August 16, 1815, in Becchi, Italy. He dedicated his life to the education and welfare of poor and abandoned youth. Inspired by his deep faith in Christ and devotion to Mary Help of Christians, he founded the Salesian Society to continue his mission of educating young people.

The feast of St. John Bosco, a revered educator and founder of the Salesian Society, served as a moment of grace and inspiration for the students of Don Bosco School, Rajanagar, reinforcing his enduring legacy of faith, education, and service to youth.
