Tilamol Parish, Goa Marks Season of Creation with Cultural and Ecological Festivities

Goa, 8 October 2025: Our Lady Mother of the Poor Church in Tilamol, in collaboration with the Diocesan Commission for Ecology (DCE), joyously celebrated the Season of Creation on 5th of October, embracing the theme “Peace with Creation.”

Bishop Simião Purificação Fernandes led the Eucharist, stressing the duty to care for creation, and launched a 2026 ecological calendar by Our Lady Mother of the Poor High School and DCE, alongside the DCE’s “Ecological Rosary” booklet.

Fr. Bolmax, DCE convenor, orchestrated the event, which saw enthusiastic participation from parishioners, youth, and students, blending cultural displays, exhibitions, and Eucharistic reflections to champion environmental stewardship. “Season of Creation 2025 with the theme “Peace with Creation” provided us an opportunity to reflect prayerfully on ecological resources as well as environmental crises,” said Fr. Bolmax Pereira, DCE convenor.

The event featured tribal dances and a student mime on tree conservation, celebrating local heritage, whilst traditional Goan delicacies like soji were served in coconut shells. An exhibition showcased extinct farming tools, tribal costumes, toddy-tapper and carpenter implements, traditional medicines, and villagers’ artwork and poetry.

Awards for video-making, poetry, and traditional craftsmen, alongside a “Bolaikecho Gotto” presentation on native grains’ health and sustainability benefits, highlighted the event.

“It was a day of immense importance and significance,” shared Angelo D’Souza, parishioner of Our Lady Mother of the Poor Church.

The celebration concluded with Candolim’s parish team presenting their 2024-25 Season of Creation report, entrusting Tilamol with the role for 2025-26, reinforcing a collective pledge to ecological harmony and peace with nature.
