BENGALURU — On July 3, 2026, St. John's Academy of Health Sciences in Bangalore hosted an engaging and timely catechesis session titled "Magnificat Humanitas." The event brought together 51 vibrant participants from local YouCat, Jesus Youth, and campus prayer groups to explore the intersection of human dignity and modern technology.
Organized under the leadership of Fr. Ajith Menezes, the session featured Fr. Vijay Machado, Executive Secretary of the Commission for Faith Formation (CCBI), as the resource person. Known for utilizing highly collaborative and consultative methodologies, Fr. Machado guided the youth through a dynamic blend of deep input and active interaction.
The core of the catechesis centered on the enduring teachings of Pope Leo's document, reaffirming the absolute dignity of human life. Building on this foundation, Fr. Machado brought the conversation into the modern era, addressing the realities of living in the age of Artificial Intelligence. He provided essential clarity on "what AI is and what it is not," alleviating common anxieties while highlighting the irreplaceable value of authentic human connection.
Rather than a traditional lecture, the workshop thrived on participant engagement. The youth actively discussed the vital need to intentionally build human networks grounded in compassion, love, and a true "community of love."
In a testament to the interactive nature of the gathering, the final practical guidelines and core messages were not simply handed down, but drawn directly by the participants themselves. The session successfully empowered the young leaders to navigate the digital age with a renewed commitment to their faith and to one another.
