Committed Communio Volunteer Amit Dev elected as ICYM National President

CCBI General Secretariat, Delhi, 26 January 2026:A dedicated and committed Communio volunteer, Mr. Amit Dev, from Rayagada diocese a member of the first batch of Communio volunteers, was elected as the ICYM National President during the ICYM National Council Meeting held in the Diocese of Bareilly on 26 January 2026.

The ICYM National Council brought together youth leaders, animators, and diocesan representatives from across the country to review ongoing initiatives, discern future directions, and strengthen the mission of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement. In an atmosphere of prayer, dialogue, and fraternity, the Council recognised the leadership qualities, missionary commitment, and consistent service of Amit Dev, elected him as National President.

Mr. Amit Dev has been actively involved in various Communio missionary initiatives, youth animation programmes, and evangelisation efforts. His journey as a Communio volunteer has been marked by dedication, responsibility, and a strong commitment to the mission of the Church, especially in accompanying and empowering young people. By profession a media professional, he is known for his approachable and friendly nature, as well as his active involvement at diocesan and regional levels, particularly in communication and youth engagement.

His election is seen as a moment of encouragement for Communio as well as for the wider youth apostolate of the Church in India. Under his leadership, ICYM is expected to further strengthen faith formation, missionary awareness, and the active participation of young people in the life and mission of the Church at the national level.

Amit Dev was also selected to participate in the Great Pilgrimage of Hope, an FABC conference held in Malaysia in December 2025. Due to unforeseen passport-related issues, he was unable to attend the programme. However, he received this experience with deep faith and trust in God’s providence.

Reflecting on his journey as a Communio volunteer, Amit Dev has often expressed his desire to offer his life in committed service to the Church in India. In his conversations with the Associate Directors of Communio, he repeatedly drew strength from the Word of God, particularly Jeremiah 29:11–14, which reads: “For surely, I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope… When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart.” He also finds inspiration in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Amit Dev stands as a testimony to God’s goodness, consistently expressing gratitude to God and to Communio for the opportunities, formation, and mission that have shaped his journey of service.

The National Council concluded by entrusting the newly elected leadership to God’s guidance, invoking blessings for their mission and service to the youth of the Church.

Communio congratulates Mr Amit Dev on this responsibility and assures him of continued prayers and support as he assumes this role in service of the Church and the youth of India.
