CCBI Initiatives and Communio Awareness Programme at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Indore

Indore Diocese,St Francis Of Assisi Cathedral – 11 January 2026:

An awareness programme on the initiatives of CCBI- Conference Of Catholic Bishops of India and Communio was organised at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Indore, in connection with the pastoral visit of Bishop Thomas Mathew.

The programme began with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Thomas Mathew, with the participation of nearly 500 parishioners. The Bishop’s pastoral presence and the active involvement of the faithful made the celebration spiritually enriching and grace-filled.

After the Holy Mass, the Associate Directors of Communio, Fr. Vignan Das and Sr. Margarita Dias, SCB, addressed the parish community. They explained the role and mission of the Conference of the Catholic Bishops of India, its initiatives, and its ministries. They also introduced Communio, sharing its vision and mission rooted in prayer, solidarity, and missionary cooperation within the Church in India.

Following the Mass, Communio Volunteers Nitesh and Abhi, along with Sr. Regi and Sr. Margarita, distributed CCBI and Communio bookmarks to the parishioners. Many of the faithful expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Communio and its efforts to foster awareness and unity in the Church.

Later, the Communio team met with the Women’s Commission gathering, which was attended by around 80 women. The team offered a short reflection on the importance of motherhood, the strength of a mother’s prayer, and the vital role of women in the family and in the Church. This was followed by an introduction to the work and mission of CCBI and Communio.

The programme continued with visits to Sunday catechism students. Around 40 students participated in these sessions, during which they were introduced to the mission of the Church in India through CCBI and Communio and were encouraged to grow in faith, responsibility, and service.

The Communio team also met with ten religious sisters belonging to five different congregations. The interaction provided a meaningful opportunity for conversation, sharing, and mutual encouragement in the spirit of communion and collaboration.

The awareness programme at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral proved to be a fruitful pastoral encounter, strengthening communion among clergy, religious, and laity, and deepening the understanding of the Church’s mission through CCBI and Communio. Communio expresses its sincere gratitude to the Bishop, the parish priest, and the parishioners for the opportunity to share and collaborate in this pastoral initiative.
