Bishop Peter Paul Affirms Communio Initiative, Applauds CCBI’s Pastoral Vision

Bengaluru, CCBI Secretariat, 5 August 2025: Sr Margarita Dias, Associate Director of Communio, had the opportunity to meet Most Rev. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore, along with Fr Jagadish Pinto, the Diocesan Director of Communio, at the Bishop’s House in Mangalore.

During the meeting, Sr Margarita shared in detail about the various stages of the Communio formation journey, including the exposure program, regional and national training, and the follow-up program for Communio volunteers. She requested the bishop to identify and support young people from the diocese who possess a missionary zeal and could be encouraged to join the Communio Volunteer Training Program.

Bishop Peter Paul appreciated the initiative and agreed to send a few young people from the diocese for the upcoming training. He also spoke about the celebration of Communio Sunday in the diocese, which helped promote awareness and involvement in the mission.

His warm hospitality created a welcoming space for Communio to share its vision and mission in a longer and more meaningful conversation.

Another special moment during the visit was the presence of a picture of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, the patron saint of Communio, in the bishop's house. Sr Margarita explained the deep connection between Mother Teresa and the spirit of Communio, especially her life of service to the poor and her missionary zeal.

She also handed over copies of the Communio Report books to both Bishop Peter Paul and Fr Jagadish Pinto, highlighting the ongoing efforts and stories of mission across India.

Bishop Peter Paul encouraged Fr Jagadish Pinto to participate in the forthcoming Communio Directors’ Meeting to be held in Goa.

He also took time to show Sr Margarita the beautiful paintings of Michelangelo and other ancient artworks displayed in the bishop’s chapel. It was a spiritually enriching experience and added to the grace of the visit.

Before concluding the meeting, he blessed Sr Margarita in all her responsibilities and upcoming schedules at the CCBI as Associate Director for Training and Programs. As a token of love and encouragement, he gifted her a statue of the Nativity of Our Lady, whose feast is celebrated on 8th September.

Communio is grateful to Bishop Peter Paul for his timely availability, generous hospitality, and the valuable time he gave for this important conversation.
