Bishop Paul Simick Installed as Bishop of Bagdogra Diocese in Grand Ceremony

Bagdogra, January 7, 2025: On Sunday, January 5, 2024, Bishop Paul Simick was officially installed as the Bishop of the Bagdogra Diocese in a solemn ceremony presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency Most Reverend Leopoldo Girelli. The event, held at St. Vincent's Cathedral, brought together Archbishops and Bishops from Raigarh, Asansol, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Ranchi, and Kolkata, with Archbishop Thomas D'Souza of Kolkata officiating the function. Over 2,000 faithful, including around 50 priests from Darjeeling, Bagdogra, Jalpaiguri dioceses, and Nepal, gathered to witness the significant occasion.


During the ceremony, the Apostolic Nuncio announced the Papal Communication and expressed gratitude to Archbishop Vincent Aind for his dedicated service as the former Bishop of Bagdogra. In his address, he commended the clergy and laity of the diocese for their faith and commitment. Archbishop Thomas D’Souza led the proceedings with prayers and blessings, marking the formal transition of leadership in the diocese.


The installation ceremony was a moment of celebration and hope for the faithful of the Bagdogra Diocese, signifying a new chapter under the leadership of Bishop Paul Simick.
