Vatican City, May 13, 2025: The Vatican has released the liturgical schedule of Pope Leo XIV for the month of May. Throughout this month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Holy Father will lead several liturgical celebrations and visit key papal basilicas in Rome.
The schedule is as follows:
18 May (Sunday) – On the Fifth Sunday of Easter, Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Mass of Inauguration of his Petrine Ministry. The celebration will take place in St Peter’s Square at 10 AM.
20 May (Tuesday) – The Holy Father will make a pilgrimage to the Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls, where he will pray at the tomb of St Paul.
25 May (Sunday) – On the Sixth Sunday of Easter, Pope Leo XIV will lead a Eucharistic Celebration at the Archbasilica of St John Lateran at 5 PM. This Mass will include his formal installation on the Cathedra Romana, the episcopal seat of the Bishop of Rome.
25 May (Sunday evening) – At 7 PM, the Pope will visit the Basilica of St Mary Major to venerate the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Salus Populi Romani.
31 May (Saturday) – On the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Pope Leo XIV will preside over Mass with priestly ordinations in St Peter’s Basilica at 10 AM.
