Regional YCS/YSM Convention in Guwahati rallies Gen Z towards mission and leadership

Guwahati, 24 October, 2025 — The 2nd Regional Young Catholic Students–Young Students Movement (YCS/YSM) Convention brought together more than 280 Gen Z delegates from 13 dioceses across Northeast India at Don Bosco School, Pan Bazar, Guwahati, for a four-day gathering from 17 to 20 October focused on nurturing young “pilgrims of hope” for a holistic and sustainable future.

Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil of Bongaigaon, who led the inaugural opening, encouraged the young participants to become courageous witnesses of hope rooted in compassion and purpose.

Centred on the theme “Gen Z Pilgrims of Hope: For a Holistic Life and a Sustainable World,” the convention featured exposure visits to Snehalaya homes, workshops, Cafeteria Conversations with experts and interactive SEE–JUDGE–ACT sessions addressing issues relevant to today’s youth.

Testimonies shared during the programme reflected the movement’s impact in shaping personal growth, discipline and social responsibility.

The convention also elected a new regional leadership team, with Ms. Daniella Kharkongor of Shillong appointed President, alongside representatives from dioceses across the Northeast region.
