BONGAIGAON, 1 March 2025 – The poster for the 5th Regional Youth Convention (RYC) 2025 was officially unveiled during the North East India Regional Bishops’ Council (NEIRBC) meeting at Bishop’s House, Bongaigaon, Assam. The event, held from 28 February to 1 March, marked a significant step in promoting youth engagement in the Church.
Rev. Fr. John Barman, M.S.F.S., Secretary of the North Eastern Regional Youth Commission (NERYC) and Director of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement North East (ICYM NE), expressed gratitude to the Bishops’ Council for their unwavering support and acknowledged the dedication of diocesan secretaries. He provided insights into the functioning of the Youth Ministry in the region, highlighting collaborative efforts between regional and diocesan bodies, youth movements, and strategic priorities. These include strengthening Young Catholic Students (YCS), training young people with missionary formation, and the urgent need for a dedicated youth centre.
Most Rev. Dr. Linus Neli, Chairman of NERYC, along with other bishops, officially unveiled the poster, which includes essential event details such as the name, date, location, and key themes. The convention is expected to draw over 2,000 young participants from 15 dioceses.
Fr. Barman extended a warm invitation to the Bishops’ Conference for RYC 2025, set to take place at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, Kohima, from 27 to 30 June 2025. The event is organised by NERYC-ICYM NE and hosted by the Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM).
