Pope Francis Appoints New Bishop of Cuddapah, Andhra Pradesh

CUDDAPAH, Andhra Pradesh, March 8, 2025: Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Fr. Paul Prakash Saginala as the new bishop of Cuddapah, Andhra Pradesh. Fr. Saginala, 62, is a native of Badvel, Cuddapah, and has served the diocese in various capacities since his ordination as a priest in 1987. He holds a doctorate in biblical theology from the Pontifical Urbaniana University of Rome and has taught sacred scripture at Saint John's Regional Seminary in Hyderabad.


Throughout his ministry, Msgr. Saginala has demonstrated a strong commitment to education, serving as a professor, vice-rector, and chancellor in various institutions. He has also served as a parish priest and dean in several parishes within the diocese.


The appointment of Msgr. Saginala as the new bishop of Cuddapah is seen as a significant development for the diocese, which has been served by dedicated clergy and laity for many years.
