Tirunelveli, August 20, 2025 – More than 3,000 students, teachers, professors, and social thinkers joined hands at St. Ignatius College of Education (Autonomous), Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, to form a striking human chain on 13 August. The event was graced by the Assistant Collector and Deputy Commissioner.
Run by the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a congregation founded by Mother Marie Louise de Meester in 1897, St. Ignatius College of Education organised the initiative to promote social harmony and send a firm message of “No to Drugs.”
The human chain symbolised the college community’s commitment to unity and a society free from addiction and division. The presence of the Assistant Collector and Deputy Commissioner reinforced the significance of the movement.
“Let us continue spreading awareness, supporting one another, and working for a community that nurtures life, peace, and hope,” said one of the participants.
The event underscored the role of students, educators, leaders, and citizens in driving social transformation when hearts and hands unite.
