National Catechetical Conference Ignites a Digital Revolution in Faith Formation

Lucknow, September 18, 2024: The XIV National Catechetical Conference, organized by the CCBI Commission for Faith Formation, commenced on September 17 at the Navintha Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Lucknow. The conference, running from September 17 to 19, focuses on the theme "Digital Media in Catechesis" and explores how technology can enhance faith formation in the modern world.


The event was inaugurated by Bishop Dr. Gerald John Mathias of Lucknow, along with Bishop Jojo Anand of Hazaribagh, Fr. Vijay Machado, Executive Secretary of the CCBI Commission for Faith Formation and other dignitaries. In his opening address, Bishop Mathias emphasized the importance of integrating digital tools into catechesis while maintaining traditional methods.


Fr. Vijay Machado highlighted the significance of the conference in line with the CCBI Pastoral Plan, stressing its practical implementation across dioceses. The three-day event will include sessions on Church teachings, the role of digital platforms in catechesis and practical workshops.


Over 130 participants from 132 dioceses in India are attending the conference, which features presentations by seven resource persons and panel discussions on various aspects of digital catechesis.
