Archdiocesan Bible Commission’s May FBP Program Strengthens Family Faith Across Bangalore

Bangalore, May 26, 2025: The Archdiocesan Bible Commission of Bangalore has been conducting daily online Bible sessions and weekly quizzes via Zoom during May 2025 as part of its Family Bible Proclamation (FBP) programme. Families from various parishes across the city participate in these daily and weekly sessions. Led by the enthusiastic FBP team, this vibrant spiritual movement engages families in Scripture reading and reflection by sharing chapter summaries and key insights, followed by an interactive quiz.

The quiz, complete with Scripture references, invites both children and parents to search the Word of God together, read aloud the answers, and grow in biblical literacy. These sessions are helping families become more familiar with the Bible while deepening their faith, strengthening family bonds, and cultivating a living, personal relationship with God’s Word in homes across the Archdiocese.

The programme for May commenced on May 1st at St. Mary’s Basilica, Shivajinagar, with the inaugural session solemnly blessed by Rev. Fr. Vijararaj Jaunet, Secretary to the Regional Bible Commission, and Rev. Fr. Jeevan Prasad Dandavathi, Secretary to the Archdiocesan Bible Commission, with the gracious support of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Martin Kumar. The Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Suresh, also extended his blessings and encouragement to the faithful through a virtual message. Leaders from the Archdiocesan Bible Commission were present to lend their support to the initiative. The programme has been progressing meaningfully and continues to receive enthusiastic participation from families belonging to the parish each day.

During the month, several Bible Keynotes sessions were also held in several other parishes across the city. On May 2nd, Holy Family Church, R.M. Nagar, hosted a session on the Books of 1 & 2 Kings. On May 6th and May 20th, St. Anthony’s Friary Church conducted sessions on 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, and 1 Chronicles. The May 10th session at St. Francis de Sales Parish, Hebbagudi, explored the Books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Tobit, offering historical and spiritual insights in a concise 30-minute format. This was followed by a Bible Quiz on May 21st, where families enthusiastically participated via a Google Form-based quiz, fostering a spirit of learning and community engagement.

On May 14th, a special Bible session was conducted at Holy Ghost Parish in Richards Town, during which a detailed summary of the Books of Zechariah, Malachi, and the Gospel of Matthew was presented. Visual representations of biblical events accompanied the teachings to enhance understanding and engagement. The same session was also conducted at St. Anthony’s Friary Church on May 6th, 2025, on the Books of 2 Samuel & 1 Kings and in continuation again on May 20th, 2025, on the Books of 2 Kings & 1 Chronicles.

The programme has witnessed enthusiastic participation, with families joining in from home and even while travelling. The weekly Family Bible Literacy Quiz, conducted online every Thursday, continues to draw wide interest. In one heartfelt testimonial, Mrs. Silvi Jaganath, a parishioner from Holy Family Church, R.M. Nagar, expressed her dedication:

"My mobile alarm rings every Thursday at 7:55 p.m., no matter where I am—I make it a point to attend the quiz. Each session humbles me, reminding me of how much more I have to learn from the Bible."

Anchored in prayer, Scripture, and fellowship, the FBP initiative is building a faith-filled community across the Archdiocese. With the continued leadership of the Bible Commission animators, Mrs. Anitha D'Souza and Bro. Nathan, this growing movement is poised to expand further. A new parish launch is scheduled for June, and all parishes are warmly invited to join this mission that is rekindling the spirit of faith and unity, one family at a time.

The Archdiocesan Bible Commission team extend their heartfelt thanks to God for His abundant blessings. They also express their deepest gratitude to our Archbishop, Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, and to the Auxiliary Bishops, Rt. Rev. Arokia Raj Satis Kumar and Rt. Rev. Joseph Susainathan, for their tireless support, which has empowered them to spread the Word of God across various parishes within the Archdiocese. May God continue to bless them richly.
