A Training Programme for the Catechism Teachers of First Holy Communion and Confirmation Catechism was held on 24 May 2026 at Mangala Jyothi, PI organized by Diocesan Commission for Faith Formation, under the guidance of Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of the Diocese of Mangalore and leadership of Fr Rohit Dcosta, the Secretary.
Rev. Dr Gilbert Choondal, Member of the CCBI National Council, served as the resource person and conducted practical as well as interactive sessions for the 64 catechists who participated enthusiastically in the programme.
The training focused on effective catechetical methods, prayer formation, sacramental preparation, creative learning activities, and the importance of parental involvement in the faith formation of children preparing for First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
The sessions were enriching and inspiring, helping the catechists to deepen their understanding of their ministry and equipping them with practical tools for teaching faith more effectively.
The programme renewed the zeal, dedication, and confidence of the catechists in carrying out their important mission in the Church. The organizers also expressed sincere gratitude to all the Parish Priests and Catechism Parish Coordinators for their continued support, encouragement, and cooperation in strengthening catechetical ministry in the Diocese.
